H was acquainted with a school analyst by his educator. He was the most noticeably awful carried on white kid in school. He was forceful, fights with different equivalents, and contends with his teacher all the clasp. The teacher needed to better H s practices and announced it to his female parent. In this way, the teacher and the school therapist consented to work with H, since he was the most yearning kid in the schoolroom. H was in the fourth class and had kept up high classs. He proceeded with o hold great classs all through the school twelvemonth. He in some cases experienced difficulties in following waies and completing in-class assignments in creating action, yet his scholarly standing is in the standard ; all things considered, it is higher in the math nation. So as to cognize increasingly about H, a meeting was led by a school analyst with his educator ; the detailed that H is from a separated from family unit and existence with his female parent who is a specific guidance teacher in secondary school. During the main meeting, H was seen to be a Caucasic male of mean height and weight with light-haired hair, pale blue eyes, and was dressed coolly in a dark sweat suit and exercise center shoes. H was sitting mutely at his work area and taking a shot at his ain. The undermentioned meeting, H was seen to be progressively forceful and begun to do commotions, yelling, dissuading educator and talking back in the schoolroom. I talked with H about his conduct that the teacher and chief informed me concerning his conduct that was flighty ; I begun the main meeting with him by playing a game to help him place his inclination and conduct. All through the Sessionss, the understudy was addressing the school analyst, and he was expressing her that he was holding a few occupations in the new topographic point. He was holding a troublesome clasp socialing and doing companions. The student was other than talking about the nonattendance of his male parent, and how awful he was encountering to be raised by an individual female parent. He other than tended to the awful relationship he had with his equivalents and educator and he was expressing through the Sessionss that no 1 could get him. During this meeting, there were a few misinterpretations between the customer and the healer in footings of phonetic correspondence and some social things, for example, talking about sketchs and movies characters, most loved Cereal, and sorts of Canis familiariss. As an expert, I inspected how I would help Hunter to change his conduct issues in the schoolroom. In this way, a gathering was directed with H s female parent so as to cognize progressively about his conduct at place and to obtain her included. Lamentably, the gathering finished adversely. Added to this, the annihilation of Hunter s female parent over my social contrasts drove the crowd strategy to a negative outcome on H s concerns. During the gathering, H s female parent contended that her kid will be will pull going to since they live in a little rustic network and everyone knows one another. This was the significant activity the female parent was accepting roughly and was baffled since she would hold to defy her neighbors gazing and comments. The mama was other than accepting of her kid in the great beyond and how individuals will deal with and take a gander at him as a forceful and acted up childs in the town. She expressed each piece great that she is an individual mama that brought up her child without anyone else and she had confronted bounty from these individuals in the town. She referenced that her kid would hold a few occupations working with a universal school analyst who talks preferable in another phonetic correspondence over English and had an alternate social foundation. The understudy was happy to keep up working with him, however his mama was declining to complete our Sessionss ; he appeared to change a tiny bit at a time and needed to appear as something else. He was fractious, in light of the fact that his female parent quit everything and he told the school analyst that his female parent had non let him go to her. He expressed that he did non hold companions previously and the school clinician was his companion around that cut. Culture of the customer The customer is H s female parent, 38-year-old, and Caucasic female. She has one child who is 10 mature ages old and step-senior kid ( age 17 ) and one more youthful measure young lady ( age 5 ) who does non directly live with her in a similar house. The customer is separated, populating with her kid since she got separated from six mature ages prior. She is filling in as a specific guidance teacher in secondary school and referenced she is from the prevalent in the middle of classification foundation. Culture of healer The healer in this case was me. I am a 26 twelvemonth old, Muslim universal female understudy. I am from a white collar class foundation, and experienced childhood in a spot with my male parent, step-mother, and my sisters and stepbrothers. My family unit has been an of import divide in my life. I had a cluster of cultural and enthusiastic help. My female parent had a chest invasion and kicked the bucket when I was six. I scarcely recollect her face and how she was moving. Instruction was a frightening part of my life ; populating completely far away, and inside an alternate human progress was non a simple thing to cover with. Overseeing of situation The crew contained the educator, the school analyst, and the standard attempted to step in and help Hunter to stop his negative practices and get down moving like an ordinary kid. The crew directed a gathering to point the conduct and program a mediation. They called H s female parent to procure her included. As the crew was working through this example, the mama came to class and requested that the standard quit working with her child. She said they are populating in a little town and it is a fiendishness in her nation to be in issue in school, especially in footings of conduct issues, and she did non want any kind of administrations from a global school therapist. There was no way to change over the female parent to procure her included and convince persuaded her to finish the case. This was one of my social inadequacies and predispositions that I encountered. I felt so crabby and under miniaturized scale animosity, since I am non an American school analyst. They do non want me to work with this youngster ; especially so the teacher would not go on meet withing with me about the student and the standard requested that I stay off from him. I felt like an outsider and vulnerable. The crew actualized a mediation to work with H in schoolroom, yet everything was dropped. The activity of this occurrence was unfortunately, was held at the terminal of the school twelvemonth. Along these lines, I needed to end run intoing the child and make what the mama was asking for. I felt so unhelpful and I understood the occupations that can occur inside school scenes and how unfit individuals would be so as to step in. I attempted to change over the educator and the standard to re-set a gathering with the female parent to talk with her H s scholarly concerns first, on the other hand of his conduct issues. Disclose to her how of import it is to function with him before they become significant issues in the great beyond, obtain the mama increasingly included, and make an association among spot and school. Lamentably, it was unseemly to constrain individuals to go to Sessionss or have help. It was difficult to show a finishing up crowd concentrate for my endeavor. As a closing point, the educator and school therapist demonstrated using break and overlooking as techniques for subject. Heaps of input other than was recommended to chop down H s rout, yet there was no way to deal with the female parent s occasion viewpoint through her kid. Hence, I discovered it extremely of import to go to this occasion study to be increasingly perceptive in the event that it happened again in the great beyond another clasp. The Analysis Diverse issues and worth contrasts The adherents are the multifaceted issues and worth contrasts that may hold existed among healer and customer: Gender, age, financial position, guidance, ethnicity, confidence, and phonetic correspondence contrasts. Age: The customer is 38 mature ages old. The school clinician is 26 mature ages old. Financial position: the customer is from prevalent in the middle of classification foundation and the healer is from in the middle of class foundation. Training: the customer is a specific guidance teacher at a secondary school. The healer is an understudy in an EdS plan. Religion: the customer is a Christian, while the healer is a Muslim. Ethnicity: the customer is White European American and the healer is a worldwide Arab understudy. Language: The customer communicates in English as the primary semantic correspondence. The healer communicates in Arabic as the main semantic correspondence. Out of these issues, I will explicitly go to ethnicity and semantic correspondence contrasts in the examination bit of this paper. Ethnicity Sue and Sue ( 2007, chap.1 ) , Hence and Boyd-Franklin ( 2005 ) , and

Incest in Kings Row :: essays research papers
Obscure characters saturate this film, however they can be effortlessly overlooked under the thick acting that clears you into the storyline. Maybe the most upsetting character to me was Dr. Tower. That is to say, truly, who is this person? From the earliest starting point I could identify a sort of peculiar dynamic among Cassie and her dad. After she and Parris swim together as youngsters, she says that if her dad discovers she's been swimming with Parris, he would "take a switch" to her. From the outset I thought perhaps he was severe about her coming straight home from school or something, yet when I caught wind of the mother remaining in the home constantly, it turned out to be all the more clear. Cassie's mom was not crazy or sick but rather a casualty of a possessive man. By binding his significant other and little girl to the home, he detached himself, making himself obscure to any other person in the town. As in each humble community individuals talked in Kings Row, and Dr. Tower evaded a great deal of this tattle by not permitting anybody into or out of his home. Indeed, even at Cassie's birthday celebration, the visitors were all outside, and when Parris goes into the house to express gratitude toward Dr. Tower, he is immediately shooed away to return home. Did any other individual consider Forrest Gump here? I needed to consider Forrest and Jenny as youngsters and how much their cooperations resembled that of Cassie and Parris. Both young ladies had dull and profound privileged insights: they were casualties of inbreeding. Cassie is pulled out of school and isn't permitted to go out. She is tentative, skiddish, and can't look at Parris without flinching when he visits their home. Dr. Tower might want us to accept that she has gone crazy, as he asserts his better half seemed to be, and even Parris purchases this. I nearly needed to shout when Parris says, "He must've thought about us," remarking on Dr. Tower killing his little girl and commiting self destruction so as to forestall Parris from carrying on with an existence with a maniacal spouse. Indeed, Dr. Tower knew about Parris and Cassie. He realized they had a sexual relationship, and that is the reason he slaughtered Cassie. Maybe the greatest hint was when Cassie comes shouting to Parris in the night for help and afterward rejects his solicitation to walk her home. She presumably realized that if Parris returned home with her, her dad, thinking about their relationship, would execute him too.

Reading Material For Young Children - 1072 Words
ââ¬Å"A Return to Literatureâ⬠Comics are among the most popular reading material for young children. It is a stepping stone into the literature that is explored later on in life. As any entry level activity, it is expected that one should graduate from comics and go on to longer pieces of writing with no pictures. Lately however, there are less and less people willing to read. Words and pictures have a negative connotation as adult reading. With ââ¬Å"Show and Tellâ⬠, McCloud aims to defend the use of words and pictures together through historic examples and a demonstration of how words and pictures are used today in an attempt to bring people attention back to reading, which hasâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦McCloud wanted the reader to see what pictures and words together can do early on in the essay. McCloud states that it is normal for children to begin early literary life with the combination of words and pictures only so long as they ââ¬Å"GROW OUT OF ITâ⬠( McCloud 739). McCloud does not put these words in bold because that is what he wants people to do; he does it because that is what he does not want people to do. McCloud is attempting to break the common held belief that a child should grow out of comics. In the next slide we see the figure of McCloud with his arms spread out opposite each other. One arm holding back books and the other holding back paintings. McCloud says that ââ¬Å"traditional thinking has long held that truly GREAT works of art and literature are only possible when the two are kept at armââ¬â¢s lengthâ⬠(McCloud 740). A closer look reveals that the books he is holding back are some of the most renowned books ever written including the Holy Bible, ââ¬Å"To Kill a Mockingbirdâ⬠, and ââ¬Å"Moby Dickâ⬠. The paintings include paintings by Van Gogh. McCloud provides these great works of art and literature in order to support what he said. McCloud does not however, wish to use these examples to per suade people that pictures and words should be kept separate. His goal is to convince people that the same literary greatness can be reached with comics. McCloud continues after that slide with a slide full of advertisements as

Anti-Drugs Policies in the 1960s Essay - 1006 Words
Drugs have been influencing the ideas, culture, and music of America for ages. Illicit narcotics have left the Union in a state of immense debt. Anti-drug policies have been dumping billions upon billions of dollars in prevention, punishment, and rehabilitation. From the roaring twenties, to the prohibition, drugs have always been fought (Bailey). Most times, the drugs start off as medicines and end up being harmful (Morris). Perhaps, the most prominent and influential eras of drug use in America are the two decades of the 60ââ¬â¢s and twenty years later, the 80ââ¬â¢s. Many people turned to this mind-altering drug as way to experience nature, and the company of others. Why would they use so many drugs? The counterculture was set on doing the opposite of what was seen as the right way of doing things. They protested many of Nixonââ¬â¢s policies and their use of drugs was one form of protest, along with their music and free-love. They wanted to create friction between the government and the people. The movement was so strong that it pushed on into the early 70ââ¬â¢s. Elimination of Ghettos free essay sample
A look at the process undertaken by the Nazis in the Holocaust of emptying the ghettos of people. This paper studies the process of elimination the Jewish ghettos in World War Two Europe. It explains the logic behind the concept of the ghetto and how they finally became unmanageable. The writer looks at how the elimination of the ghetto Jews fit into the overall aim of the Nazis to wipe out the entire Jewish population of Europe. Ghettos mentioned are Lodz and Warsaw. It shows how they were sent to concentration camps and finally to their death. In 1939, a decree was issued by the Chief of the German Security Police, which outlined certain procedures for the treatment of all Jews in the German occupied territories. Through this decree, all the Jews were to be isolated, identified, and contained in ghettos, primarily to be used as slave labor, but with the ulterior motive of their mass execution. Since most of the Jews populated the rural country-side, they were systematically brought to the cities to live in these newly created ghettos. These ghettos were usually cut off from their surroundings by barbed wires or high walls with mounted guards. These ghettos eventually became overcrowded, and lacking the basic facilities of water, sanitation, fuel, and constant threat of epidemics, the Jewish population began to suffer from a high mortality rate within the walls of their new surroundings.

Perfectly Broken Essays - Public Image First Issue,
Perfectly Broken Upon entering my room one may wonder why I have garbage up on my wall. I do not put rags or rotting food on my wall. However, many people believe that what I have up there is garbage. It is a broken cylinder of wood, splintered in the center, pieced together from two, that before was one, but would never quite be one again. The violent act of destroying it is why I hold it so dearly to me. It was that moment I knew that my life would never be the same. At that time I knew that what I had in front of me would forever change my life. When I saw the shattered frame of wood that lay on my drum set I realized that this would be the guiding light for the rest of my life. I was a drummer, I loved it, and I was proud. This happened about three years ago, in the beginning of my year in eighth grade. I had a friend who had played the drums, and I always enjoyed going to his house and messing around on his drum set. When he told me he wasn't playing anymore, I saw it as an excellent opportunity. He let me borrow his set until I could get one of my own. When I got it in my house I was so thrilled I played it for hours. I feel sorry for my parents who had to listen to me before I had any lessons or practice. Whether I was good or bad, I was enjoying myself. Although I was happy the way I was, I took into account the complaints I got from my family and decided to take lessons. I was at first upset that my lessons were moving so slowly. It seemed like I was hardly learning anything and that I would never get better. I was very frustrated and even considered quitting. One day when I was playing very especially loud, my drumstick broke right in half. One piece flew in the air, landing on my drumset, the remaining piece laying in my hand, unable to be played with. My first reaction was mere annoyance, I had no extra sticks and could not use my drums anymore until I got new ones. However, I soon got over this and realized the importance of what I had done. It was a symbol of the power of the drums; the power that would be from then on mine. It was not long after that when I began to show real improvement. The lessons were paying off, and all those things I learned that seemed pointless began to fit right in. The pieces were coming together and I was really beginning to know what I was doing. I got together with a friend who played bass and a friend who played guitar and we jammed together. As I was laying in bed staring up at my drumstick one day I realized that I had gone from merely someone who plays the drums, to a drummer. I have been told to throw the stick out multiple times by my mother, my friends, and various other people. To everyone else it is just garbage. However, it is very important to me. From the moment when I started playing drums, to when I broke my first stick, it was nothing more than a hobby. I enjoyed it, but I wasn't thrilled with it. When that stick broke I knew that there was more to it. I was making music. For the first time in my life I had a true way to express myself other than speech. It went beyond the spoken word or eye contact. Music is the telling of stories, through feeling and emotions. It is the only way I know of to translate anger, excitement, hostility, or tranquility from one to another. I now had a power I never came close to before. I was filled with the joy of what it meant. Although the broken drumsticks that followed go straight to the garbage, I will always keep this one. When I am upset, frustrated, or feel that I should give in to pressure, I look to the old broken drumstick as an inspiration. It tells me that like when I first started playing the drums, it may not look good at first, but with hard work and practice

Television essays Television will take over your way of living and change your childrens habits, but the change can be a wonderful improvement ( Winn 270 ). Little did this commentator know how true his statement would become. Television has become a necessity in life, in some states the TV is a legal necessity and cant be repossess in case of debt ( Winn 270 ). When the television was first introduced it was regarded as a favorable, beneficial, wondrous influence upon the family ( Winn 270 ). In those days most families had only one TV .Now a days there is a T.V in almost every room of the house, mom watching her soap in the kitchen, kids watching cartoons in the living room, and dad yelling at the TV in theden while watching the ball game. A Narrative Essay on the Breakfast with My Grandmother in Italy
A Narrative Essay on the Breakfast with My Grandmother in Italy Breakfast with a Side of Eye Cream With heavy arms perched high above my head, I savored the precious flow of cold water streaming down my sweaty back. At my grandmothers house, as in most Roman households in the summer, the shower is a welcome sanctuary from the unrelenting Italian sun, and it can become competitive territory to stake out in a busy home. The bittersweet smell of coffee wafted into the bathroom and invited me to join my grandmother for my favorite meal. Today was my first morning in Italy, and I knew that breakfast would mean catching my grandmother up on an entire yearââ¬â¢s worth of material. After a sip of coffee, I hooked my laptop up, and stood next to my presentation, just as I had done a few Saturdays ago in my International Fashion Marketing class at FIT. When I saw my title slide, all of the butterflies that I thought I had left in New York suddenly came fluttering into my stomach. Speaking in Italian helped to ease my nerves, and in a beautiful synergism between Italian and English, I shared my vision with my grandmother. I wanted to bring a hip active wear brand, coveted in the U.S. by yoga enthusiasts and marathon runners alike, to Italy. The sporty style of so many Italian women inspired fashion forward athletic wear, and I was excited by the prospect of bringing a new brand to a local shop in downtown Rome. After outlining my business plan and real estate forecasts, my grandmother asked me ââ¬Å"What about Paris?â ⬠I knew this was her gentle nudge for me to practice my French. After completing a brief synopsis of my presentation in French, I surrendered to the second best armchair in our lounge and dug into my bag to share my next adventure. At the end of Junior year, I decided to pursue my passion for beauty products from a new perspective. So, I traded in my summer bikini in favor of a lab coat and goggles for 40 hours a week during the first month of summer. As I unpacked a new sleeping mask that I had spent the summer experimenting with, I shared my experiences working in a Cosmetology Lab. We admired the new color I had developed, a creamy hue of golden yellow, infused with a subtle shimmer. I loved pouring the different shades of eye shadow and watching different formulations come together to yield innovative products. After breakfast, we took our first walk into the city, down the narrow cobblestone streets to our favorite grocery store. The sweet salami, paper thin slices of prosciutto, pitted olives, and smoked salmon reminded me of my favorite appetizer at Giuseppeââ¬â¢s, my familyââ¬â¢s restaurant in New Jersey. My miniature apron that I wore as a child, its pockets stained from the juice of olive pits, still hangs on the coat rack in the kitchen. I reach into my pocket and pull out a few euros, telling my grandmother that the groceries are my treat today. As we pass a vacant shop on our way home, my reflection in the dark window gives me an idea for the window display to my shop in Rome: golden tanned mannequins, with a shimmer like the one in my eye cream, clad in geometric printed ankle pants and a bright hoodie with gold accents. All this exotic art around me, the texture of the chipping bricks around the stained glass windows. My mind wanders to the history in the cities I have yet to discover.

Qualities of a Successful International Marketing Strategy Essay
Qualities of a Successful International Marketing Strategy - Essay Example International marketing strategy is rooted in an investigation of the level of globalisation of different features of the market setting, such as variations and similarities in consumer preferences, culture, socioeconomic standing, technological standards, and so on. Therefore, it is evident that companies aspiring to compete successfully in global markets have to develop a decisive, purposeful, and appropriately designed international marketing strategy that is derived from a comprehensive knowledge of the markets which the organisation is operating in or aiming at. The Three Qualities Global markets are an aggressive environment that demands regular monitoring and assessment. Marketing strategies should be able to adapt to the dynamic nature of global markets. Innovation is an integral success factor, not merely with regard to product and/or service but the entire process of marketing. Value-oriented marketing and financial strategies are all turning out to be vital factors in the execution of a successful international marketing strategy (Doole & Lowe, 2008). Therefore, the mission of international marketing is to guarantee that all global strategies have the strength of comprehensive analysis and knowledge and precise assessment of what is needed to gain the most coveted competitive advantage. There are numerous essential qualities for successful international marketing strategy. But this essay focuses only on three qualities, namely, successful development of recognised local brands, strong brand extensions, and solid customer relations. First, a successful international marketing strategy is able to expand a local brand into a global brand, bringing brand strategy and value to a larger number of countries. The most excellent case in point of an initially national brand that eventually became international is Coca-Cola. In 1902, Coca-Cola decided to go beyond the United States. It was able to penetrate the market of 76 nations by 1929 (Hill & Jones, 2012, p. 286). During the Second World War, the company already has 63 factories across the globe. Its international expansion carried on after the war, motivated partly by the assumption that the U.S. market would sooner or later mature and by the belief that massive prospects for growth rest abroad (Hill & Jones, 2012, p. 286). Until the 1980s, Coca-Colaââ¬â¢s marketing strategy may most appropriately be described as a localisation strategy. Local marketing activities were given a high level of autonomy to handle their own activities. But everything changed when Roberto Goizueta became the companyââ¬â¢s chief executive in 1981. He restored focus on the leading brands of Coca-Cola, which were expanded with the launching of Cherry Coke, Diet Coke, and others (Doole & Lowe, 2008, p. 8). His main assumption was that the major dissimilarity between the global markets and the United States was the lower consumption level of the global markets. Goizueta transformed the company into a glo bal one, consolidating much of the marketing operations and management at the companyââ¬â¢s head office in Atlanta, placing emphasis on major brands. This wholesale strategy was based on standardisation by, for instance, employing the same marketing strategy across the globe (Hill & Jones, 2012, p. 286). However, this wholesale marketing strategy eventually became

Sole Proprietorship vs. General Partnership vs. Corporation :: essays research papers
A sole proprietorship is a type of business that is owned and operated by one person who is responsible for all the debts. Forming the business is really easy to start off with. Also the owner receives all the profit from the business and is his or her own boss. The down side to owning a sole proprietor business of your own is it is really hard to find sources for funding the business for it to grow and expand. An example of a local proprietor business is Marthaââ¬â¢s Kitchen. Marthaââ¬â¢s kitchen is a really small restaurant on the outskirts of town. Martha chose to open a diner at her location because it is joined with a gas station and it is in a remarkable location for a restaurant business. Marthaââ¬â¢s kitchen is open from 5:30 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. She serves the best peach cobbler around. A general partnership is when two or more persons decide to share the responsibility of operating a business together. The partners are also equally responsible for all the company debts incurred by each partner. The combined partners in the business allow the business to grow very easy because it is very easy to find sources for funding and investors. The biggest disadvantage that a general partnership has is the difficulty of transferring ownership or selling out because of having the consent of the other partners. An example of a local general partnership is Rest My Friend Lawn Care. The lawn care business originated as a sole proprietor but now it is a family business with several partners. Blake, Larry, and Tracy chose this type of business because they were able to invest in the business and to this day they are making a great profit out of the business. Corporations are the biggest type of business out of all three. Corporations are considered to be separate from the owners and they are liable for their own debts. When investors invest in a business they are held liable for only what they invest in the company in event of failure.

High School and Selecting Main Ideas Essay
My 3 highest scores are: Information Processing (85), Study Aids (95), and Time Management (60).The 3 areas I scored the lowest on are: Attitude (5), Motivation (5), and Selecting Main Ideas (20). Iââ¬â¢m going to work more on my attitude, because itââ¬â¢s important to me that I graduate and get the degree in the career that I want to purse, so that I can prove to all the people who told me that I wouldnââ¬â¢t be nothing, or had doubt in me, because my parents didnââ¬â¢t finish High School, nor graduated. Motivation is probably one of the hardest one for me, because Iââ¬â¢m a huge procrastinator, especially when it comes to math, which is the subject I dislike the most. I think if Iââ¬â¢m motivated to do the math I will get better grades. I think itââ¬â¢s going to happen because Mr.Norrgran makes it interesting, he tends to joke around to wake us up if weââ¬â¢re not participating, or shows us little tricks so we can get the problem better. On Selecting Main Ideas, the reason why I got a 5 is because when writing notes down, I tend to write everything, even though itââ¬â¢s not needed. The reason why I do that is because to me, if I donââ¬â¢t write everything down, I always have this voice in the back of my head, ââ¬Å"What if that word, sentence, vocabulary is in the testâ⬠something like that, so I feel better if I just write it ALL down, just in case itââ¬â¢s use full. I think itââ¬â¢s an OCD habit. At the end of the fall semester, I hope to have my attitude at 100, motivation 100, and main ideas 100, because I know that will make me a better student on achieving my goals, to prove to not only those who would shut me down, but to prove to myself.

Groups and Teams Essays - 1092 Words
Groups and Teams Groups or teams can evolve into high performing, extremely effective, useful tools in any organization if developed and managed correctly. Demographic characteristics and cultural diversity can impact the behavior of groups or teams in positive and some negative ways. Diversity may impede the initial progress of a group; however, the long range benefit to creating high performing teams is great. An effective group is one that achieves high levels of task performance, member satisfaction, and team viability (Schermerhorn, Hunt Osborne, 2003, p. 2). A team or group is two or more people working together to achieve common goals. Members of a group are usually dependent on each other and have regularâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦The norming stage is about harmony and balance, especially after storming. The performing stage is when the group is finally able to handle complex tasks and achieve goals. Adjourning is the last stage of group development. It occurs after the group has achieved all of its tasks and goals and disbands. Not all groups or teams advance through all of the stages of the cycle to reach the performing stage or adjourning stage. To reach these final stages they must have strong communication and development skills. Highly effective groups have strong management. To achieve and maintain high levels of group effectiveness, any manager or leader must understand the way groups operate as organizational resources (Schermerhorn, Hunt Osborne, 2003, p. 10). Effective groups have clearly defined goals and guidance from management. They are given the resources to complete their tasks and a successful group is rewarded. High performance groups excel at teamwork and attain special performance levels. They have strong core values, a general sense of purpose, performance objectives, and a good mix of skills and creativity. An effective team manager will communicate standards, create a sense of urgency, gather the right skill set and establish clear rules for behavior. They can also share new information frequently, give positive feedback and reward any successes. Homogeneous groups will get along, work well together and can be somewhat effective. However they are limitedShow MoreRelated Groups and Teams Essay1099 Words à |à 5 PagesGroups and Teams The forming, storming, norming, performing model of team development was first introduced by Bruce Tuckman in 1965. He argued that these phases are all necessary and inevitable for the team growth, overcoming challenges and tackling problems, finding solutions, planning work and delivering results. Tuckman later added a fifth phase, adjourning, which is referred to by some as the mourning stage, which involves completing the task and breaking up the team.
